Ages 13 and up. This class will teach the use of weaponry in Aikido, with emphasis placed on the application of Aiki through the weapon. Weapons taught include bokken, jo, tanto, hanbo, kodachi, and yari.

Dojo is open for anyone to work out but there is no structured class. A black belt instructor is available to supervise and answer questions. This is an opportunity for students to practice what they have learned in class.

Topics include taisabaki (body movement), basic and advanced technique, jiyuwaza (free technique), randori (multiple attackers), and weapons disarming. All students will learn Aikido at a level appropriate to their rank. All classes taught by John Goss Sensei.

Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu is a classical martial art tradition going back to the Samurai. It is the foundation on which Morihei Ueshiba developed Aikido. Although both arts are similar in the application of Aiki, Daito-ryu is more formal and structured than Aikido. Aiki Martial Arts Institute is the only authorized mainline Daito-ryu dojo in Maryland.
